It is read-only by default. The vidIQ listing in Claude's Connector Directory only reads YouTube data: Claude can query and surface insights, but it cannot change anything on YouTube. If you add vidIQ as a custom connector or use Claude Code and sign in with your vidIQ account, you can also approve changes to videos you own: title, description, tags, visibility, schedule, or thumbnail. Claude shows the exact change and waits for your approval, and nothing can upload a new video for you.
