YouTube Description Generator
Free AI YouTube Description Generator
Turn your video idea into an engaging, keyword-rich YouTube description that gives viewers context and helps YouTube understand your content.
What makes a good YouTube description
A description has two jobs: convince viewers to watch, and tell YouTube what the video covers. These five parts do most of the work.
- 1
Put the hook in the first 150 characters
On most screens, viewers see only the opening line or two, roughly the first 150 characters, before they expand the description. Lead with what the viewer gets from the video and your main keyword, not a channel intro or a list of links.
- 2
Use keywords the way viewers search
Write one or two natural sentences with the words people type into search, plus a few related terms. YouTube reads your description to understand the video, but a description stuffed with the same keyword is hard to read and gives viewers no reason to click.
- 3
Add timestamps to create chapters
List timestamps with a short title, one per line. YouTube turns them into chapters when the first timestamp is 00:00, there are at least three in ascending order, and each chapter is at least 10 seconds long.

Link with a purpose
Add the links viewers actually need: the next video to watch, a related playlist, resources you mention, and your socials. Put the most important link near the top, and label sponsored and affiliate links clearly.
- 5
Place hashtags at the end
Finish with two or three relevant hashtags. YouTube shows up to three hashtags from your description by your video title, and if a video has more than 60 hashtags, YouTube ignores all of them.

YouTube description templates by video type
Start from the template that matches your video and swap in your own details. Each one opens with the hook and ends with links and hashtags.

Only the first 2–3 lines show before 'Show More.' Lead with the most compelling reason to watch.
Use keywords naturally
Work your primary keyword into the first 25 words and weave related terms throughout — never stuff.
