Loop YouTube Shorts by making the ending flow into the beginning, so the replay feels continuous. Matching visuals and smooth audio can encourage another watch, but looping does not guarantee twice the watch time.
Shorts can be square or vertical and run up to three minutes. For this technique, use only as much time as the action needs.

Jake Fellman describes a sharp rise in views on his “Minecraft RTX 24% Arrowhead Loop” Short.
“When it clicked in my head that I needed to start making loops, was when the arrowhead video went from one million to 20 million views in the course of a couple of days – which just never happens with any videos,” Fellman says. “It did 15 million views in 48 hours. Typically, my top-performing video in 48 hours, for a good week, tops off around three or four million.”

How to Create Shorts That Loop
Match your final shot to your opening shot, then check that the audio crosses the join smoothly.
- Keep the action concise. Use only the footage needed to complete the action and return naturally to its starting point.
- Match the first and last frames. Fellman used matching still frames to help hide the join; preview your edit instead of relying on a fixed replay delay.
- Make the audio loop too. Use music or sound that joins cleanly at the restart, or leave it out if the cut is distracting.

Do YouTube Shorts replays count as views?
Yes. Since March 31, 2025, Shorts views count starts and replays with no minimum watch time. Engaged views are separate: they count viewers who stay past the initial seconds and exclude loops.
Does looping Shorts help reach 4,000 watch hours?
Watch hours from Shorts in the Shorts Feed do not count toward the 4,000-hour YouTube Partner Program threshold. Looping a Short does not change that rule.
